CCLC® Named to Esteemed Center for Companies That Care 2010 Honor Roll
March 18, 2010
Portland, OR (March 18, 2010) – CCLC®, a nationwide child care provider dedicated to quality employer-sponsored early childhood education (www.cclc.com), announced today it has been named to the Center for Companies That Care 2010 Honor Roll for the second year in a row.
CCLC is recognized for its commitment to employees during a difficult economy, sustaining and increasing business growth, and providing employees with a comfortable work environment where they feel engaged and appreciated.
The Honor Roll is selected by an independent panel of seasoned professionals in a variety of industries. CCLC, like the other companies named to the list, excels in the “10 characteristics” inherent to a “company that cares,” some of which include: developing employees and leaders, supporting the pursuit of work/life balance, sustaining a work environment founded on dignity and respect for all employees, providing competitive compensation and benefits, and volunteering in the community. The Honor Roll illustrates that these companies provide a positive work environment for their employees and are committed to social responsibility.
“We are proud to be honored for the second year in a row by the Center for Companies That Care," said Fran Durekas, Founder and Chief Development Officer for CCLC. "CCLC strives to provide a healthy and enjoyable work environment that allows our employees to grow in their passion for educating children. We realized many years ago that the more satisfied our staff is, the better equipped we are to deliver exceptional care to the families and children we serve."
“There's a lot CCLC does that is noteworthy,” said Marci Koblenz, President of Center for Companies That Care. “We included them on this year’s Honor Roll specifically for their focus on development and hiring the right people for their team, which led to lower than average turnover (25 percent vs. 45 percent). Also, their dual career track with comparable pay and incentives allows excellent teachers, who have no interest in management roles, to stay and grow where they are most effective. And on top of all that, the organization's community involvement is absolutely commendable.”
Those named to the 2010 list feature U.S. organizations that are large, medium and small, public and private, for-profit and not-for-profit, in diverse industries headquartered in 18 states. A full list of recognized employers can be found at www.companies-that-care.org.
The Honor Roll is announced annually in conjunction with the annual launch of CAREDAYS, a month-long national initiative to engage individuals and employers in activities addressing a significant societal issue in our communities. CAREDAYS10 supports childhood literacy by providing books to under-resourced classroom libraries.
