Mary Alice O’Connor Family Center Awarded Prestigious National Accreditation

August 25, 2009

Burbank, CA -- The Mary Alice O'Connor Family Center has been awarded accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC®). The center, which serves the Burbank community and families of the Burbank Housing Corporation, is operated by Children's Creative Learning Center (CCLC®) and is located at 401 N. Buena Vista Street in Burbank.

Accreditation is a rigorous process, involving intensive self-study and a site-visit by a team of experts.  In awarding accreditation, NAEYC focuses on the center's environment and curriculum, measuring it against a national set of standards of education, health and safety. The quality of communication among children, parents and staff is also taken into consideration. NAEYC accreditation has become the mark of quality in early childhood education. Only 10 percent of early childhood programs in the nation achieve this esteemed recognition.

Regional Director Tricia Quinn who oversees CCLC's centers in the Los Angeles area said, "Accreditation of the Mary Alice O'Connor Family Center by NAEYC reflects the quality, commitment and dedication of our entire team. The official recognition confirms our pledge to providing a high-quality curriculum and a healthy, nurturing environment in which children can learn and grow."

The Mary Alice O'Connor Family Center opened in 2007. The center offers educational enrichment programs and child care for children ages six weeks to 5 years. For more information about the Mary Alice O'Connor Family Center or to enroll, visit www.cclc.com.
