As Center Director, Kari’s role is to create a safe, positive and enriched learning environment for the children in her care.  She is devoted to the well being of everyone in her center – children, families and teachers.  She develops and maintains strong relationships with the children and their families in her center.  She encourages parent involvement and establishes a sense of trust and security so that parents are comfortable at work knowing that their child is in a nurturing environment. In addition, Kari acts as the on-site point of contact with our employer sponsor answering everyday questions and maintaining a positive relationship.

Kari has been with CCLC for almost a year but in the field for over 12 years. She holds a BA in Psychology and a MS in Counseling. She is married with a daughter and enjoys gardening. What she loves most about her job is playing with the children and her favorite center activity is the Halloween Costume Parade.   

Program Information

Founded in 1992, CCLC Preschool at Monterey Presidio is a community-based preschool serving children 6 weeks to children entering first grade. We are open to the public and located on the Presidio overlooking beautiful Monterey Bay just up from Cannery Row.

We are licensed and NAEYC accredited which means we are held to the highest standards for child care centers. We offer low teacher to child ratios, experienced staff and a play-based curriculum. Our classrooms are developmentally designed for the age groups they serve and each class has its own outdoor play area. Nutritional morning and afternoon snacks are provided along with a hot lunch. We also offer math, phonics and dance enrichment programs on campus.

Extracurricular Activities: We offer math, phonics, Spanish and dance enrichment programs on campus. We also offer parent night's out (PNO). Families refer to these as their "date nights." They occur once a month on a Friday night from 6pm to 10pm. Dinner, a movie and fun activities for the kids are part of the festivities during PNO. We also offer free parent work shops several times throughout the year covering subjects such as Implementing Positive Discipline, Communication Skills and Curriculum Building at home.

Holidays Observed: We are closed New Years Day, Presidents Day, Memorial day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Holiday and Christmas Holiday. We are also closed every second Friday in June and the day before Labor Day for our staff development days.
