As Center Director, Leigh’s role is to create a safe, positive and enriched learning environment for the children in her care.  She is devoted to the well being of everyone in her center – children, families and teachers.  She develops and maintains strong relationships with the children and their families in her center.  She encourages parent involvement and establishes a sense of trust and security so that parents are comfortable at work knowing that their child is in a nurturing environment. In addition, Leigh acts as the on-site point of contact with our employer sponsor answering everyday questions and maintaining a positive relationship.

Leigh has over ten years of experience in the field of Early Childhood Education.  She earned her BA in Psychology from the University of Iowa with a minor in Child Development and is presently working on her Master’s in Teaching, Early Childhood Education. What she loves most about her job is that everyday is a new experience for her and the children.

Program Information

University Children’s Center uses an exclusive educational program which provides unlimited opportunities for the development of the whole child. There's a unique curriculum for every age level, centered around developmentally appropriate and fun activities that help children develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially. The center provides care for children of Northwestern University faculty, staff and students, Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation employees, and the community.

Extracurricular Activities: Learning Adventures and Summer Camp

Holidays Observed: We are closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. The center is also closed on President's Day and Columbus Day for Staff Professional Development Training
