As Center Director, Karen’s role is to create a safe, positive and enriched learning environment for the children in her care.  She is devoted to the well being of everyone in her center – children, families and teachers.  She develops and maintains strong relationships with the children and their families in her center.  She encourages parent involvement and establishes a sense of trust and security so that parents are comfortable at work knowing that their child is in a nurturing environment. In addition, Karen acts as the on-site point of contact with our employer sponsor answering everyday questions and maintaining a positive relationship.

Karen has been with CCLC since 2010 and in the field for 29 years. She has a BA in Human Development and two children. Karen enjoys reading, walking on the beach, cutting and growing roses. What she loves most about her job is working with the staff to inspire them to grow in the ECE field. Her favorite center activities include the art show, book fair and messy activities like watching the infants and toddlers paint.

Program Information

CCLC at Fred Meyer uses an exclusive educational program which provides unlimited opportunities for the development of the whole child. There's a unique curriculum for every age level, centered around developmentally appropriate and fun activities that help children develop physically, intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Center provides care to Fred Meyer's families and community members.

Extracurricular Activities: Learning Adventures, our highly customized, concentrated enrichment programs taught in small intimate group environments, designed with a low teacher-to-student ratio to allow for individualized attention with an emphasis on academic outcomes.

Holidays Observed: We are closed on New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day. We also hold Professional Development Days on Columbus Day and President's Day.
