Who developed the childcare center?

The UCAR Childcare Project Team was responsible for developing the center, including employees from Human Resources and Facilities/Business Services. Members from the child care operator also played an active role in making this project a reality.

How was the childcare center operator selected?

UCAR submitted a Request for Proposal (RFP) to childcare center operators and, after evaluating proposals from a range of qualified companies, Childrens' Creative Learning Centers (CCLC) was selected to manage the center. UCAR identified the top vendors in the childcare field and invited them to make presentations to the child care project team. Experience, flexibility and quality standards were among the factors considered in selecting CCLC. The selection team was unanimous in their decision.

When did the center open?

The center opened on August 30, 2004.

Where is the center located?

The newly renovated site is located at 3050 34th Street, Boulder CO., 80301

What programs are offered?

The UCAR Child Care Center provides regular full and part-time child care for children ages 6 weeks through 6 years.

• The site can accommodate 78 full-time children.
• Back-up care for infants through Pre-K is available on "space available basis" for employees whose regular arrangements are unavailable.

The center offers a high-quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum with low teacher/child ratios. The center is set up to meet the accreditation standards set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) -- a highly regarded child development organization. The center will apply for NAEYC accreditation when eligible, after one year of operation.

What are the center's operating hours?

The center is open from 7:30 am until 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Are meals available?

CCLC provides daily a morning and afternoon snack. We also offer a flexible and optional Hot Lunch program that can be purchased at the center for $2.50 per meal. The hot lunch program will start October 1, 2004.
