Program Transition Information
CCLC is excited to have been selected as the new child care provider at the BP Early Learning Center. We are committed to working with BP Alaska, the families, and existing staff to ensure a smooth transition. The most important factor of a transition is continuity of care for the children.
Our goal is to retain as many of the current teaching staff as possible to provide consistency to the children and their families. We are committed to making necessary changes at the center, as identified by both CCLC and BP. However, these changes will occur in a timely yet respectful manner. We want children and families to walk into the center and feel like they are at home in a familiar space.
A key factor during the transition period will be continuous communication between CCLC, families, staff and BP. CCLC has created many methods for families to receive center transition updates. You can join the Center Transition E-mail Group. We look forward to meeting all of the families and children!
Center Quality & Features
CCLC will work with BP to identify areas upon to build even stronger quality and learning opportunities for children. These changes will occur in a timely yet respectful manor and all changes will be communicated to families regularly. Below is information on the quality you can expect at the BPELC throughout the transition process and beyond.
- NAEYC Standards: The BPELC will continue to follow NAEYC standard by offering the high-quality, developmentally appropriate curriculum with low teacher / child ratios. The center will be set up to meet and in some cases exceed the accreditation standards set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). We strongly believe in the quality standards which NEAYC has set for child care centers.
- Low Ratios: The center will continue to operate with the same low child to teacher ratios and small group sizes.
- Guided Discovery Curriculum: CCLC will slowly transition from the current curriculum to CCLC's own unique curriculum: Guided Discovery CurriculumTM. CCLC incorporates physical, social, language, cognitive and emotional development. Guided Discovery is rooted in educational philosophy and theory as well as practice. CCLC's Director of Quality and Training will work with center staff to discuss the current curriculum and evaluate the best method to make a transition. CCLC will be mindful of the curriculum experiences that the children are currently engaged in daily. However, in some classrooms CCLC and the center staff may choose to implement Guided Discovery sooner than later.
- Teaching Staff: CCLC's goal is to retain as many of the current teaching staff as possible. CCLC is meeting with the current team members who have expressed interest in staying at the BPELC. CCLC has discussed the transition and their employment opportunities within CCLC. We will communicate to parents regarding the status of their child's classroom teacher as soon as we know. Where necessary, CCLC will hire additional staff that are Early Childhood Professionals who meet or exceed all state requirements.
Our goal is to keep the teacher turnover rate as low as possible. To build a great teaching team, we pay above average salaries and offer great benefits. We look forward to finalizing our teaching team and introducing both returning and new team members to The BPELC families as we get closer to the transition date of January 1, 2010!
